Worked with Ben at some union sites, you can see damage has been done. But he is very approachable. He didn’t do much work but his workmates didn’t mind hahaha. Worked with him for over a year and blokes would see him for the 1000th time in the coffee room and still act like a little kid. Ripper bloke that did the wrong thing. Still the best footy player I’ve ever seen. I’ll remember him as a legend, a hero of my childhood. We always remember people for the bad. But Ben gave me a lot more smiles that he did tears. That last sequence between Hawthorn and Port in the prelim stands to me as the most obviously one-sided officiating. In the span of 40 seconds they decided that Jonas + 2 Hawthorn defenders all diving on the ball is a free kick to the hawks, and Lake diving + dragging the ball in and just lying down on it is a ball up AFTER WAITING 7 SECONDS TO BLOW THE WHISTLE AT ALL. I'm not going to sit here and say 'Port should have won, Port should have another premiership' (after the hawks cruised to victory in the granny).etc just that it was by far the most frustrating experience as a fan in memory

im a crows fan, always have been. dad used to support the blues before the crows came into the comp. Carlton is one of those clubs I'd love to win a flag because it's been so long and the history around the club... I dont think they will this year because of injuries, but maybe soon

I've come to Aus for a few years and I've like watching cricket since I came here, but when I tried to be a BBL fan, I saw my team can never have the strongest squad due to those international duties, I'm done.

i feel like (as of 2024) the Crows are still in that same hole, but in just a few years Adelaide might make finals, not win a grand final, but make finals which is all we need to get a strong foundation back

Another hawks fan here and like the players I was terribly relieved to get away with that game. I though for for sure Port were going to be the next powerhouse team after that game and win a premiership or 2 by the end of the decade, but their falling away was as surprising as their brief rise.

It could be argued the camp helped them find who they really were - a crappy team😆

The 2014 preliminary finals is one of the darkest days of my football life. I was and probably always will be a hard Geelong cats fan, which meant of course that I hated the Hawks. After the previous years prelim and hearing about Ports story, I was incredibly eager for Port to win this match. When they lost I was devastated. Hawthorn went on to win not only that years grand final but the next years, and Port became irrelevant to me again. I like both teams now but it's interesting looking back at my childhood selfs views and reliving the memories
